REALTIME WORKFLOWS: My Mixamo Pipeline for Unreal Engine

πŸš€ Speed Up Your Realtime Animation Workflow

I’ve just shared a new video breaking down how I use Mixamo to rapidly prototype characters and animation inside Unreal Engine.

While it's not what it once was, Mixamo remains my go-to for quickly getting characters on screen, blocking scenes, and telling stories fast.

All the characters in PRAZINBURK RIDGE were from Mixamo originally.

Why Mixamo?
βœ… Massive library of free animations
βœ… Super light characters
βœ… Many of the characters can share a single skeleton, making it easy to build an efficient animation library
βœ… Perfect for background characters or placeholders during early stages of production (ie, previs)
βœ… Simple drag-and-drop workflow into Unreal Engine

In the video, I demonstrate:
πŸ‘‰ Downloading characters and animations from Mixamo
πŸ‘‰ Importing and connecting them to a shared skeleton in Unreal
πŸ‘‰ Setting up animations in Level Sequences
πŸ‘‰ Building a reusable animation library accessible to all Mixamo characters in your project

I’ve also bundled the shared skeleton system into my UE Starter Pack – available free here – to help others hit the ground running.
